About Ostlers Close Restaurant

Jimmy Graham insists on the freshest of ingredients for his kitchen, so he grows some of his own produce, with the help of a polytunnel to extend the growing season for salad crops, herbs, courgettes, cavolo nero to name a few as well as cultivating fruits-plums, damsons, rhubarb, apples, blackcurrants and blackberries, which gives confidence that fresh, organic where possible ingredients have been used. In the effort to keep everything natural, there is a conscious decision not to use insecticides. Ostlers Close Restaurant is proud to be recognised in Visit Scotland’s quality assurance scheme with a Taste Our Best Award.

Ostlers Close is firmly established as one of Scotland’s premier restaurants, receiving many awards along the way. Jimmy and Amanda Graham have been running Ostlers Close for over three decades. Jimmy and Amanda source the best seasonal Scottish produce available for the restaurant, choosing fresh local produce where possible.  They believe that ‘the more local the better’, and they also support the Fife’s Farmer’s market and the Fife Food Initiative. Head Chef Jimmy Graham uses certified beef and lamb from the Ceres Butcher, pork from Puddledub Pork, fish from suppliers G &J Wilson from St Monans, whilst lobster, crab and prawns come from the East Neuk, hand-dived scallops from the Isle of Mull, and asparagus from Glamis. The soft fruit used by Ostlers Close is sourced from Fife’s soft fruit farms and vegetables from Balgove Farm and Meadowsweet Organics – the list is endless, and Jimmy feels privileged to have such a bountiful local larder to choose from.

During the day Amanda works alongside Jimmy in the kitchen, making the desserts, special dietary and vegetarian dishes as well as preparing preserves from their garden produce. In the evening Amanda runs front of house and with her small team of staff, and they provide an informed service whilst maintaining a friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant.

Jimmy and Amanda’s other passion is wild mushroom picking. When they are in season, every spare moment is devoted to foraging, from St Georges mushrooms in late spring all the way through until the frost arrives that ends the cep and chanterelle season.  A visit to Ostlers Close is a rewarding experience where you can be assured of the finest food, the best of service and a warm Scottish welcome. We look forward to seeing you-please phone 01334 655574 to make a reservation.
